Hello and welcome to my stop on the Quilt Big Blog Tour! Quilt Big is the latest book by my lovely friend Jemima Flendt of Tied with a Ribbon. I’m super excited to be able to share this beautiful book with you all. It’s an absolute winner and is sure to inspire and motivate quilters of all skills levels.
In Quilt Big you will find:
- A whole chapter dedicated to upsizing quilts and quilt blocks;
- Detailed information on the tools and techniques you will need for quilting in general and, on a grand scale;
- 19 fun quilt blocks to try;
- 17 stunning projects from pillows right through to lovely big quilts;
- 5 quilt backs designed specifically for some of the projects in the book
There’s just one thing you need to do.… grab yourself a copy of this book asap by clicking here!
Log Cabin Quilt
With a bit of help from Jemima I decided to give the Log Cabin Quilt and a modified version of Jemima’s Log Cabin quilt backing a try. (Seriously, there are so many great projects in this book it was hard choosing just one!)
I’m happy to report that the Bigger Blocks for Faster Finishes claim definitely delivers. I manage to select fabrics (the hardest bit right?!?) and sew the entire quilt top and back in a single day. Now that really is fast! I couldn’t be happier with the result.
I’m pretty sure it took me longer to decide on whether this quilt needed matching or scrappy binding. In the end I decided on the matching not least because I think that this Sweetwater Sweet Tea Navy Lattice print could well be my most favourite fabric ever! I quilted this one myself with straight lines on my domestic machine.
Thanks Jemima for delivering on another awesome book. I love it!
