It’s been so nice to be in my new sewing studio this week playing with fabric and thread again! I managed to eek out a whole day to myself and was able to put together this remake of my Bloom quilt pattern with some new fabric the lovely folks at Free Spirit had sent over. The fabric collection was designed by Miss Mustard Seed aka, Marion Parsons, and it’s called Bunnies, Birds & Blooms.
To get you in the mood for all things Bloom related I’ve popped the Bloom pattern on sale. For the next week only (30 May to 6 Jun) I’ve reduced the price to just USD$6.00. PS That’s the same price as a mini quilt pattern! Click here for the PDF version of the pattern and here for the paper version.
I love the scrappy nature of the Bloom quilt pattern and I kinda love my new outdoor couch as a prop for quilt photography. I have a feeling I’ll be using this spot again and again 🙂
My not so hidden quilt holder! The original pattern is for a 75″ square quilt with 16 blocks. This 9 block version is a little smaller but still makes a good size throw.
It’s been a while since I’ve made a pieced back for a quilt and I’d forgotten how much I love them. It’s like getting two quilts in one and, it’s a great way to make sure that those scraps don’t get out of control!
The original quilt was definitely a girlie version and somewhat brighter I think. Next time round I think I’d like to make another Bloom quilt with just scraps and maybe a low volume background.
If you’ve made your own version of the Bloom quilt or, the Bloom Mini Quilt, I’d love to see your quilt! You can email me at shequiltsalot@gmail.com with pictures any time.
Have a happy week!
